We have only recently found the need to purchase a new travel cot. Our little man is now 16 months old, and our old travel cot was just not up to the task anymore. He was able to pull up the velcro straps that held the mattress in place, roll up the mattress to one end of the cot, then sit on the very flimsy material that the mattress was meant to sit on, meaning there was no support for him, and no chance of sleep. With an upcoming weekend trip to the snow, we knew we had to invest in something better.
The Baby Bjorn Travel Crib Light was one of only 2 options available to us. We needed a travel cot where the base was on the floor, and not a cot that was on legs. The mattress on this travel crib is like a proper cot mattress – very comfortable and not hard and flat. It can be assembled in less than 30 seconds, and is very easy to fold back down – there are no bars that need to be clicked in and collapsed in a particular way or order, it is really simple. It’s also much easier and lighter to carry, weighing only 5kgs and comes in a square shaped carry bag rather than a long rectangular bag which is easier to pack into the car.
While all of this sounds great, it means nothing really if it doesn’t have the desired effect – a sleeping baby! We had to have the travel cot in the room with us for the snow weekend, and the last time we had to share a room with our toddler was a disaster. This time, there was no problem. He slept through the night both nights, and slept a good 2 hour day sleep too. The cot wasn’t as bulky as regular travel cots, and thankfully so because the area we had to put it in was tiny, and a normal travel cot would not have fitted in the room with us.
Overall, I cannot recommend this cot highly enough, there really are no cons at all that I can think of. It is on the pricey side, but it is seriously worth it for the ease and convenience of use, not to mention the comfort for your baby.
