Now that the nights are getting colder, I am again finding it difficult to know what to dress Barney in for bedtime. When the 5am/5.30am wakeups started happening, I initially thought he could be cold. He goes to bed in a long sleeve top with winter pyjamas, and a sleeping bag and one blanket. I never used to leave the heater on overnight, but have lately been turning it down to 16 degrees so the house doesn't get too cold. But while I am worried about him being too cold, on the other hand I have to be careful that he's not going to be too hot as well, as that can also lead to sleep problems.
One great tip I read early on is if you dress your baby in natural fabrics and use a cotton sleeping bag and blankets, then there is less chance of them overheating as you can add or remove blankets as necessary. The sleeping bags are particularly essential for our little man, who still hasn't figured out which end of the cot he is meant to sleep at, so at least he is warm enough in his bag to fall asleep, and then when we go to bed we can add his blankets over the top, however he may be lying!
