Everyone who has had a baby has been there. Teething. Where do I even begin? Our little man has at last count 8 teeth – the four on the top, and the four on the bottom. For the last few weeks or so, the big chompers at the back have been trying to cut through. We had a false alarm a couple of months back where his gums swelled up and he was very grumpy for a few days, but it turned out to be a reaction to his 12 month injections and not pearly whites.
Fast forward a couple more weeks and the gums were swollen again, followed by another few days of severe grumpiness. Still no teeth. I gave up thinking that he was teething and decided my boy was just being a brat. The next day I discovered an extra tooth – and felt pretty bad for my lack of sympathy.
This has been the pattern now for the last month or so. I think we are up to an extra 3 teeth now, but can’t be sure as every time I try to take a closer look I almost lose a finger.
So come on Barney – show me your teeth! And let’s hope it’s quickly, so we can all be happy once again!
